Greetings from the chairman

@@Chairman of Cooperative Association of Kaga-yuzen Sensyoku-danchi
@@Vice-chairman of Cooperative Association of Kaga-zome Promotion

Katumasa Okuda

In 1970, the cooperative association kaga-yuzen sensyoku-danchi was established
at Senkojimachi in Kanazawa City by the companies related to the dyeing kaga-yuzen.
The Sai River flows into the Sea of Japan(East Sea) from Mt. Hakusan which Senkoujimachi
commands a view of. The town, located near the mouth of The Sai River, is a place truly suitable
for the production of kaga-yuzen;
blessed with water, sunshine, and plenty of underground water.

Kaga-yuzen was a traditional industrial art based on its design and skills
which had been built up for a few hundred years. From an indusrial point of view, however,
it was just a weak and small-scale domestic industry.

Sennsyoku-danchi(dye works) was established for purposes of efficient operations after that:
some of the dyeing processes, such as yuzen-nagashi, mushi, and yunoshi, was done in a communal works.
Under cooperation and competition, we have striven to develop new technique and products
under cooperation and competition.

Now we are confronted with severe economic environment which is called the worldwide depression,
so mainly young people show a tendency to have fewer opportunity to wear kimono
with changes of their life styles.
All the better for such the times, the first thing we have to do, throught the united efforts of our dye works,
is to come to grips with
improvement of employment, workplace environment, welfare programs in view of middle and long term
outlook, to say nothing of manufacturing efficiency.

Kaga-yuzen is not a simple way of dressing up. It is also a way of communication:
The heart of kaga-yuzen is handed down to a daughter from her mother.
We all members of the association will responsively and proudly strive to make progress together.
We request the honor of your advising us in the future.
