In Kanazawa, the city of traditonal culture,
Kaga-zome was patronaged by the successive governers
of Kaga-han(Han is administrative division in federal times in Japan), whose ancestor is Toshiie Maeda.
Kaga-han was the richest Han, so it was called ‘Kaga-hyakuman-goku’(million-koku domain).
Koku(Goku) is unit of volume: defined as quantity of rice and as an assessment of Han's wealth during the Edo period in Japan.
Under this envioronment, Yuzensai Miyazaki perfected Kaga-yuzen 350 years
ago, who came to live in
Kanazawa from Kyoto
and stayed with Taya Taro, a merchant patronized by the federal of Kaga.
In 1970, the cooperative association kaga-yuzen sensyoku-danchi was established at Senkojimachi in Kanazawa City
by the companies related to the dyeing kaga-yuzen: small-scale dyeing works had been scattered around Kanazawa City before.
Growing out of the domestic industry, we have been struggling with improvement of employment, workplace environment,
welfare programs in view of middle and long term outlook, to say nothing of manufacturing efficiency.
